Less and less useable and more and more unreliable with one upgrade after the other

I've been using Thunderbird for many years on many devices. I've also been recommending Thunderbird to others for years. But meanwhile the problems grow and grow with each upgrade. To the point where it's getting increasingly harder to use Thunderbird.
First, the lightning plugin fell behind of development and didn't work with actually a few of the newest versions. After using that one for years, that's an actual problem.
Then I noticed, that Thunderbird doesn't actually fetch all emails/inboxes anymore. I have to close and restart the app to make sure, all messages are being fetched.
Then I noticed, that some minor visual aspects have changed. Not a critical one. But not important and not that appealing either. Would have been better to work on actual problems, instead of useless visual changes.
Then I noticed, that messages are being automatically fetched, even though all inboxes are set NOT to automatically fetch emails after initially at start, so I have to fetch them manually. This is on purpose to avoid distractions and only fetch emails when I'm ready to check them.
Then a machine that I maintain lost language settings and dictionary with upgrades.
Now, with the most recent upgrade, the folder pane switcher went missing. I can reinstall it and it appears for the session. With the next session it's gone again. This is really tedious, because I use that one almost every single time I use Thunderbird. I usually use the compact view for unread messages, but the folders are in the view for all folders of course. So, I prefer to switch, when I have to move messages. So, this might look like a little thing. But the drop-down menu actually needs a bit of fumbling and therefore is noticeably more tedious for frequent switching. Even more so, if you are not used to it and have been using the folder pane switcher for years.
Interesting enough: I also took over Thunderbird between devices and software systems a few times. And the first time it worked perfectly. The second time it didn't work at all. The third time it did work, but all the password settings were missing. The fourth time it worked perfectly again and the password settings were there too. But in both of the most recent cases I had to switch user profiles too. Again: one time working and not working in the second case. So, that is not reliable either.
Oh, almost forgot. Then there is the thing with the menu: when I disable a menu, I expect it to actually disappear. Meanwhile I have to open and close a menu item for the menu to actually disappear, after I've disabled it. That's another one. Makes no sense whatsoever!
And that is only the most recent stuff, that I can remember, out of the top of my head.
Despite being quite heavy in comparison to other apps, Thunderbird has clearly been the top app for years. But recently it's more and more unreliable. Meanwhile this has become really tedious and is in desperate need of attention and fixing. Because with every upgrade, Thunderbird becomes less and less usable and more and more unreliable.read more
