I asked to be able to pay my bills online when corona hit my country. Many phone calls and still was not able to pay my bills online or transfer money.It took many phone calls to get it sorted out. I contacted them due to another issue and since they said theu could not reach me over the phone they cancelled my request. I also was not able to buy online and that took many phone calls too. This pandemic made me realize what an awful customer service they have, they are unwilling to sort out account issues but they are willing put an end to a query if they cannot get you on their first ring. You need to have a degree to work for them, however they cannot possibly be more incompetent and mediocre. Their degrees are for show only since every single one of the employees I talked to showed a total lack of understanding of Banking issues. Y cero pienso todos y cada uno de ellos. Contraten gente que razone!!!

I don't think I have the option to give a negative star. This business is terrible.When the coronavirus hit and I got laid off from my job I asked them what my options were for my auto loan. They didn't want to work with me on lowering my apr. Then when they repoed my car there towing agency stole so many of my personal belongings out of my car. They then started the claim process for what I lost then the next day called me back and told me they couldn't file a claim for me and I was just at a loss for everything in my car .

I have had both savings and current accounts with Santander since way before it was taken over from Alliance and Leicester - that is for about 30 years. Three weeks ago,both my accounts were blocked for security reasons and I called their help line about it. The call had no effect. I have called them six times since and given my answers to their security questions on each occasion. I have written to their complaints division and received a meaningless reply which gives me information which is simply not true, or seemingly irrelevant. I have called a number which is given for their local branch, only to find I was not speaking to that branch at all and, subsequently, finding that I was being given the same old story that my case was 'BEING REVIEWED'. Inasmuch as my pension is paid into one of the said accounts, you can imagine how not being able to access it is causing considerable anxiety and distress. They have refused to give any indication of how long it will take to resolve. So I am left to hope that all will be done and dusted sometime within my remaining life expectancy. I would happily close those accounts and transfer them elsewhere, but, of course, I can't close them, because Santander says so!

So far so good this bank showed to be more helpful than traditional banks. They successfully tried to re allocate funds send to a wrong account.The customer service is friendly and willing to help as well as the branch people.The only problem is that their online application is flimsy and need restoration.

Tried going online with Santander, instructions not totally clear so phoned up to get help,mistake I was making explained to me, then tried to put in new password etc, followed instuctions didn't like any of them, called my son who works in IT he could not manage it either. Two hours of my life wasted.

For a bank to try to protect jts customers is commendable but Santander simply block payments without notifying the sender (SMS,email whatever)and trying to contact them to sort it out us a night. If you try to use their chat you get one evasive, meaningless reply and if you try to follow up you're ignored. Customer service? Joke

Dishonest practices

Dishonest practices I sent £ 30,000 from my UK account to my Brasilian account on 22nd December,they finally admitted receipt of funds on 4th January 2021 and informed they would put into my account at the rate 6.45. Official rate was 7.15. This was a loss of R$ 21000 or 10%. I told them this was unnacceptable and told my UK bank to recall the money as not in my account Santander charged me R$ 160 for this on 8th January. Today this money has still not arrived in my bank and Santander havd now had it 22 days. I have withdrawn my savings from the saving account, will now close my other accounts and investigating the possibilities of legal action with my lawyer. Advise everyone to avoid this institution.
