Not my real name - but I am a Protonmail user and also buy the basic VPN service through Paypal.Been using internet in UK since 2000. Tried many, many mail companies (some now have bitten the dust). This works really well for my needs - e-mailing between UK and USA and using as a registration e-mail address for various sites.
The VPN? yes, really good and really fast, and works off an attractive easy to use platform.

I've been using protonmail for over a 3 months and have never run into an issue, this service ispractically perfect and the free one is great for people who want to start having more private conversations. I don't understand all the bad reviews here about customer service, I had the best with them responding very quickly whenever I had an issue. I would recommend at least trying the free version and maybe upgrade later if you like the service.

Protonmail's customer service is one of the best customer services I had missfortune talking to.My issue was resolved quickly & in the best possible way while also, I learned a few things. I felt like a kid in the right place who got more than he asked for. Definetely, one of the best experiences I ever had with customer support service, I'm higly impressed with their understanding of my problem, their guidance & profesionalism. I'm grateful that I had a chance to communicate with those people in a situation where I was in a problem. Most probably the best customer support service I ever interacted with.

It took a bit of time to set up and conifigure since I was replacing our current company mail.ProtonMail provides you with easy to follow step-by-step guides, so it was quite simple to complete the migration and repointing.
Why should you use it? The premium reason for me and my company was the way the data is handled. No one will or can compromise your mail. Second reason is that it is not part of big tech but rather built on good, sound engineering.

Is it possible finnaly stop to abuse me online from you? You Have blocked my account for abuse and fraud.I am trying get away from your company, instead of that all the time nonsense on internet and it does not stop.
Have all the time coming stuff like where I used to work and used Protonmail, coming around in algorithm with the names as was my collegue at work, my family etc.
It is nightmare and I want be off this.
You Have never helped me out and accused me for contacting you and that I do abuse your team, but I had exposed data, lost a lot and now even if I want to come on social media, if I want be there suddenly is all happenning as I had in my old work especially on Twitter where I was using Protonmail.
I am already not working in that company. You blocked my account even I had that account before I worked in that company.
I was accepting you are so rude and arogant to me, but somehow probably you need still to do some stuff to me online. Can you finnaly stop and let me be ?
Nothing was really working well and since use your product dealing till now with online issues.
Only got accussed for abuse or fraud however I am dealing with online abuse all the way long having Protonmail.
There was probably made copy of your programm as it does looks like, as before you accussed me and closed the account I saw went down even something from one of my old work, but I was using account not for that work at all.
I Have tried contact you on social media, but you did block me there some I can not see till now.
When I do try ignore you and forget, Have everywhere after what I had when I had Protonmail Lifetime.
And Last think, you are sending me offers on my private e-mail - e-mail with which one I was purchasing Protonmail account and Have had send there set up, however you Have told me off and accussed me and that I Have to stop contact you.
Just erase please finnaly my datas and somehow possible be still in the connection if you do not wish be.
I got even offer online from somebody who used to work for you and as said and sent me that can give me back my account and that Andy will not Have problem with it but also that he will not communicate with me.
It is really not nice at all that even who used to work for you is able showen me that there is still my account and can get me back and how Andy will not talk to me, but I can Have back and if would Have problem, will work out I dont Have to worry will Have never problem to be closed for abuse or fraud. I mean the person wrote me he is able to do if he will get me back my closed account and be something from support or something, he is able to organise that be okay.
I Have not agree with this person as I dont like this way be done, since I did not agree was again problem that I was force again leave from something and Have to set up all again.
Such a hell after using paid version of Protonmail Plus, visionary and Lifetime.
The best part when I had Lifetime account nobody at all helped and even ignored my messages.
This way will never be good internet and you will deal only with misleading as was told to me only made by your own and corrupted unfair ways.
The highest problems started when my old boss from old work was finishing at that work like me.
I was not working there, somewhere else, but all was like I am still at that work.
Last was December when you closed my account for abuse or fraud.
It seems to me from one of my old work somebody had to Have accsess to my Protonmail account and Have possible use informations. I can not get off still some stuff when I had Protonmail.
Also I would like to say that I Have been still expiriencing if I ever come social media and contact my friends abroad, lately all is interrupted, disconnected or done something with my account that I Have to leave account and set up new.
One friend from England was trying find my friend from Scotland and also can not find him and I am also expiriencing have on internet something in like chinese and something is normal way - just few times happenned.
I can not really be by my name and surname on the internet if I do I hit later bad.
My friend from englad even told me that he saw I do put some conversations on Facebook - but I am not on Facebook at all and do not use it.
This all Have been happenning to me since I Have went for paid Protonmail account - before never had.
It does looks like somebody is really trying to do something in my name and surname :( and the reason when I Have tried to contact you and let you know the issue but you were up set that I do contact you too much, but I was not looking for to contact you, wanted stop the person doing this, you do not believed me and later on even closed down my account for abuse or fraud.
I am also not sure when I was writting on Instagram with my friend from England if really was that my friend as sometimes he was writting that I can be fine all is private and when he wanted see Photo of me how I am he was writting a bit strange.

I don't think there is much to add, taking the previous reviews into consideration.
However,I will still echo the main complaint of non-existent customer service and briefly describe my issue to help other potential customers make an informed decision.
My particular issue started when I changed bank accounts and wanted to update the payment details on my account.
Using the same browser on the same device I had used to enter my previous card details, I entered my new card details on the website.
However, the website responded by stating the payment had been refused and advising me to contact my bank.
I did so, only to be informed by my bank that no payment or authorization had even been attempted by the merchant.
I contacted customer service about this, and after giving them the details about the payment I had tried to make, they simply stated that there is no record of me even attempting to change the card details.
They advised me of a few other steps I could take on the website as well as using a different browser, which I had already done, but none of these methods worked.
I eventually went ahead and tried to enter the same (!) details of my old credit card they already had in their system.
(The card was still valid, so I would've been informed about a card check being performed after successfully entering the details.)
But once again, the website stated that the card was refused.
On the same card they already had taken money from multiple times before. (!)
I pointed out to support that this is clearly an issue with their website, which isn't even attempting to take a payment when card details are entered and then claims that it was the bank that refused it.
However, support simply ignored this and suggested that they could remove my existing card details from the system and I could try again afterwards.
If they had thought about this logically, they would know that removing the existing details isn't going to do anything as the issue is that the website is not attempting to take money on any card that is entered (including the one already on file).
It appears that if I instruct the website to take money on the existing card (withour re-entering the details) it still works.
So if they removed the existing details, this would only completely prevent me from making any payment to them.
Not exactly a smart move.
I will now probably put some money on the old card again to pay for Protonmail for a few months while I'm looking for an alternative.
In short:
Terrible website design and terrible customer service.

Safer than other providers. It is a pity that the Android app has not been updated seriously for several years.The app startup speed is crazy slow. I wait for a simple dark mode decade.

After researching online for alternatives to google mail we found that protonmail came highly recommended,so my family decided to switch. Over the next few days we created free email accounts for my family, 4 in total, using my device. Suddenly all of us got a notification saying we had "abused" the system and our emails were disabled. Here's the weird thing: we use VPN, we use different browsers to login in, including tor browser, so how the heck did they come to the conclusion that we had 'abused' their system if they didn't have the ability to spy on us, spy on our device, browser, location, IP etc? Our suspicion is that protonmail is not as secure and private as they claim. We are now switching to tutamial, mailfence and gmx. We'll see how that goes! In any case, we don't recommend protonmail for, er... privacy and security reasons!
