To join our core team and assist in the production of feature-length essays and reported articles for our high-volume operation -- we publish 150-175 articles a week. Strong knowledge and contacts with other publications is a plus. We are looking for editors who can also write on the spot, and have backgrounds in issues tied to social change, economics or consumer stories. In your cover letter, tell us about 2 stories you would produce or write for AlterNet that you'd like to see published immediately. Save us all some time if you do not meet the requirements or have the appropriate experience. You must live in the New York area. Office work (Union Sq) with some telecommute. 2. Editorial Assistant:--CMS management, front page management + some social media coordination--Content production: Entering articles into our online content management system (Drupal), with careful attention to formatting issues and image selection. Freelance writers: AlterNet is always searching for new writing talent -- freelancers with backgrounds in reporting and producing compelling articles on cultural and political issues that have a national appeal.
