WMBF provides extensive local news, weather, and sports coverage of the Myrtle Beach-Florence-Lumberton area. Coverage includes all eight counties of this growing television market. The eight counties include 280,000 television households, making it the 103rd largest TV market in the country, according to Nielsen Media Research. As the area's first local NBC station, WMBF carries the full range of network programming, including Law & Order: SVU, Sunday Night Football, the 2008 Summer Olympics, NBC Nightly News and Today, Days of Our Lives, Deal or No Deal, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The station's local news operation also benefits from the newsgathering resources of NBC and its affiliated stations nationwide, and WMBF will share regional news content with other Raycom Media stations in the Carolinas and throughout the Southeast. WMBF launched on-air in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics on 08-08-08. While other television stations are required by law to transition to all-digital broadcasting in February 2009, WMBF was all-digital from day 1. Digital TV and HDTV owners are able to receive the station's programming over the air using an antenna. WMBF is also available on cable and satellite.
