Each clinic is unique, do your homework!

Reviewed on 2020-09-05T13:46:52

This one is a difficult review only because with certain things, the VA is amazing... but on others, holy hell do they suck. I am a rated disabled vet and I have used their support in mental health (they are great there, sooo understaffed) but getting to the point of service isn't easy and there isn't a well established step-by-step guide that will help you from the start to actually seeing a medical doctor. I will give this advice, when you do get to the point to where you are assigned a dr, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! They literally hold the keys to your health (literally life and death stuff). If you are gay, ask the social workers if they know of any gay friendly Drs. If you are a women, BE VERY specific about the type of Dr you want. If you have any underline health conditions, YOU MUST STEP UP TO THE PLATE and ask (nicely demand) to see a specialist that can help you. Do not accept the "we don't have one on staff"... If that is true, they are allowed to have you seen with civilian drs. Do a little homework and know your rights! You put your life down to support the country; the country must take care of you if you are in need.

The Employees cause most of the issues

Reviewed on 2020-08-29T06:41:01

I told a VA Employee I felt like I was going to have a Heart Attack and he said he didn't care. For 2 years Patient Advocates from the Facility, and the Regional VISN office Lied to me about how to get therapy. The VA operates on a Self Referral System using the Crisis Line to request Consults. When Community Care told me "No, you cant just ask for therapy" the Advocates did little to nothing in regards of clearing things up. It's not a lack of Personnel, or Funding that is killing Veterans. It's the Employees who haven't been trained, and have no communication skills. We don't need more ways to Navigate the VA, we need better VA Employees

GENOCIDE OF VETERANS

Reviewed on 2020-05-24T22:14:08

GENOCIDE OF VETERANS VAOIG reported an investigation revealed over 300K veterans died waiting for care.SUCH denials were due to neglect AND outright lies of VA staff lying on veterans saying they either got the care already, or refused the care. Some hid applications , while veterans languished over the years. IF a private hospital did such deeds there would be prosecution. AFTER such report came out in military times and media sources, I read the entire lengthy VAOIG report and ZERO people were held accountable. VA STAFF LIE ALLLLLLLL the time. SO MANY veterans have reported online about it. TO MAKE matters worse VA staff stalks veterans online. THEY join fb groups that report bad conduct of VA and troll them horrifically. EVEN triwest their money handlers have done so. They have even after the genocide report came out reported even dozens of more thousands of veterans were denied care by systematically reporting veterans refused an appointment or they called them when no calls ever took place and veterans can prove they never were called with their phone logs, and referrals just get cancelled. THEY DO THIS on purpose and hang on to money appropriated in so many scammy ways. LIE on vets say they already got the care or refused it etc etc.....then claim the faulty system while no person is held accountable for such criminal acts. IT IS A CRIME to keep veterans from getting care by lying in their record saying nothing is wrong with them or they got any appointment already or refused it. I personally have recorded so many staff lying and know many who have evidence also of so many crimes by the VA. IF your a veteran reading this and have had bad experiences report it on this site. ALSO record when your getting mistreated and save the evidence. IF anyone sees comments contrary to this know this 1. THEY ARE FEW people who have not been dealt bad by the VA at some point. 2. MANY VA PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENT TROLLS counter reports of the VA crimes. SO mark those who praise the VA and refute crimes done regularly by them.

Great Medical Service, Terrible Customer Service, Pharmacy not flexible

Reviewed on 2017-03-18T12:27:07

I have been going to the VA for over 2 years now. Its a great place! There's a coffee shop, cafeteria, pizza shop, barber shop, and gift shops there. The medical services there are great, I have been able to get everything I needed and the service exceeded my expectations. They even mailed me medical equipment to save me from taking the one hour trip there. On the negative side, I have called twice to reschedule appointments and the customer service there is terrible. They argued with me about why I needed to change my appointment. They sounded like drill sergeants who are always right and blame you for everything. This had never happened to me when dealing with other normal medical providers. Another negative is that the pharmacy only fills prescriptions by VA doctors. Recently I had dental work done which doesn't fall into VA responsibility. I needed prescriptions filled and had to pay out of my pocket because prescriptions fall into the medical insurance category. My primary physician at the VA has a little trouble speaking English, I already have trouble hearing so I understand only a little of what she is telling me. She has done a great job setting me up with specialty doctors and ordering nicotine patches that I requested. But, she prescribed me a medicine that I was allergic to, thank God, the pharmacy caught the error. Unfortunately, the pharmacy worker blamed me for not knowing I was allergic to that medicine. I am not too angry with me doctor about that, its not the first time this has happened. It also happened when using a non VA family doctor.
