Sur La Table's estimated revenue for 2024 is $346M.

What does Sur La Table do?

Sur La Table was founded in Seattle in 1972 by Shirley Collins, a woman with a passion for food and a fondness for community. Living in Seattle, she fell in love with Pike Place Market with its inspiring blend of products, artisans, and farmers. To her, it was a special gathering place for food lovers and culinary visionaries alike. When Shirley opened her first store in Pike Place Market, she was determined to assemble the best selection of cookware, gadgets, linens and books—even importing exclusive specialty items from France, her favorite culinary destination. Using the market as her inspiration, she thoughtfully filled her store with cooking tools that would bring people together in the kitchen and around the table. This sense of connection and love of French cuisine inspired the name Sur La Table, which simply means "on the table." Since then we've grown to over 130 stores across America, with the largest avocational cooking program in the U.S. But some things haven't changed: We're still the place for an unsurpassed selection of exclusive and premium-quality goods for the kitchen and table. We're still passionate about cooking and entertaining, eager to share all we know. Whether the job entails interacting with our customers on a daily basis or providing the vital behind-the-scenes support, we're all here for the same reason – to inspire our customers on all points of their culinary journey.

It's PayPal's fault. That's what Linda in customer service told me. I tried to have a gift sent to someone who does not live in my house.PayPal will only send to the address you used when you signed on to PayPal. Which is just one reason why I don't use PayPal. "I used credit, Linda; not PayPal, and it still did it." Her reply: "Well, our system is down now. That's probably why." "I tried yesterday, not today." "Well, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do while the system's down." To her credit, Linda called back 15 minutes or so later, to tell me the system was up and she could take my order. I gave it to her, noting that my Honey extension found a 10% discount. "We don't discount this item," Linda told me. "Linda: I'm looking at your website. It shows an $18 discount." "Can you send me a screen shot?" While I was attempting to do so, Linda said that she tried Honey and it worked, so -- voila -- my discount. Had I not been so insistent, that would have been $18 down the drain. Then I asked the company to overnight the package to the gift's recipients for their anniversary the next day, a Saturday. Had I been able to order the item -- a chef's knife -- on Thursday, when I first tried, it would have arrived on Saturday, no problem. While, assumedly, the company could have shipped on a Friday, Linda told me they don't ship on the weekend, so the gift would arrive -- overnighted -- on Tuesday. They gave me the overnight shipping at their own expense, assuming that the value of my time wasted was $0. Noteworthy: Had I not asked for compensatory, complimentary overnight shipping, and been somewhat strident about it, it would not have happened. Bottom line: Waaaaaay too much effort and frustration dealing with these folks who, to me, seem to be perfectly content with the lousy experiences they foist upon their soon-to-be former customers. Bye bye.

The stores as a nice selection of items like all Sur La Table stores.

I like the selection of interesting & unusual cooking/kitchen profucts. Staff is friendly & knowledgeable.Don't know how much of this is pandemic, but their selection/restocking is somewhat iffy – I'm told that new shipments arrive, weekly, but that they never know what's going to be in them.

Cust. service& website THE WORST, BUY ELSEWHERE

Would give minus if I could. Couldn't leave gift message on registry (wouldn't take). Items still in registry following day,so can easily have repeated purchases of same item. C/S said her side says sold, nothing she can do. No supervisor available, cannot fix anything, can only take message. Cannot say when supervisor will call. I can't even cancel order. Once they have it, they do not cancel. Horrible gift giving experience. Go elsewhere

Will Not Refund My Order

After multiple emails and phone calls back and forth, they STILL will not refund my gift card order even though there is no policy on their website that states they are non refundable.I have screenshots of every page. This is FRAUD and unacceptable.

Will not let you cancel an order even if it hasn’t shipped yet and won’t ship for several more weeks. Now I need to pay for return shipping and deal with this extra hassle for something that any other company would have been able to cancel. Never shopping here again. They say you can just refuse delivery with UPS which is almost impossible to do during Covid since the driver doesn’t have you sign for the package. UPS store wouldn’t let me refuse delivery either since only their “hubs” will do it which means I would need to drive an extra hour out of my way.

I want to file a complaint against the…

I want to file a complaint against the management in Roseville california store. I went to buy a breville food processor today and was told to leave the store by one of the cashier.I was fully compliant with california mandate and wearing a face shield. I had covid a month ago, but still agree to wear face shield. Wow, here I am trying to support my local business, local jobs, paying more than on Amazon and for what? For this horrible discriminatory treatment? I called and spoke to the manager who apparently was on site and saw the whole incident and said nothing, not even apologized. What can I say, if sur la tables most important goal is to go out of business then you are right on track. No more of my dollars will go to sur la table. What a shame.
