The worst company I have ever had to deal with

This company are easily the worst I have ever had to deal with - no, worse than that because it is impossible to actually deal with them.I am the administrator for a small residents' association and we set up a website with Squarespace just under 2 years ago. The first year was fine but in the second year they helped themselves to £144 and changed our domain name so no one could find us. It is impossible to get any sort of help, and the online help gives instructions that are impossible to carry out. We wrote a letter of complaint and attached it to the complaints email which gives a reference number but then says it is not monitored! Sent complaint letter in post to Dublin office - no response. trading Standards are now involved. Final straw - today I went into the site which should still be active until 22nd May to cancel next year's subscription and followed their instructions which resulted in webiste being deleted. Needless to say Help doesn't help and no one to talk to.
Do not waste your money on these thieves.

Customization is very restrictive. Often slow email customer support response time.

Customization of their templates is very restrictive. When they jumped to their latest version it became even more restrictive.They also don't allow video footage to be loaded on their web servers. The footage needs to be pulled from another site which reduces the site performance dramatically.
The customer support is NOT available via email 24 hours as they claim. This is a very false claim and they should remove that claim from their site! More often than not, I have waited over 24 hours just for them to finally respond to my inquiry or issue. Also, their webchat support is frequently offline during the hours they are supposed to be available.

Avoid be very careful if you cancel your subscription. They continue to take money out of your account.And the thing is you cant do anything about it. Because once you have cancelled you have to log in to question anything. But you cant log in because you dont have an account to log into. So its free money for them. They can commit fraud and deception and get away with it.
But there in for a shocker even if i have to live on beans on toast to take them to court so be it.

Find something more pleasant than Squarespace!

Hi, I want to warn any free-thinking person of using squarespace.
1. It is by default a very restrictive system with very few options to design according to your needs as you go.Once you chose your template, you are stuck to that layout until the end of your life.
2. Working with the templates or with squarespace in general is awkward and cumbersome. There is nothing intuitive about the way things work there. I have spent many hours trying to figure out small things that should be just easy and straighforward to do. For example, I still can not get captions to work on some of my images, although I have typed them into the provided template field.
3. I also was surprised to find out that I had to switch my email to google - something I never wanted to do. My email was formerly set up with another, independent company. Since I own a business, it had to be the google business email version (google workspace, approx. $75 per year additional cost). Worse, The commercial email setup also is cumbersome and complicated in its layout, not intuitive to use.
4. I also don't like to be bossed around. So when I got note that payment for my google workspace account (formerly G-suite) was due, I could not just pay that bill - the only option was to switch to auto-payment!
Overall, I'm unhappy with about every possible aspect of the squarespace setup and regret so much having switched. It does take time and effort to built up a site, so switching back is hard to do, but I will do it as soon as my time allows.

Buggy and restrictive - avoid like the plague

Like a lot of users in the reviews, I was initially drawn to Squarespace by the amount of content producers I watch recommending it through sponsored content.I've since been with squarespace for about two years and the quality of product has declined massively in that short period.
The designer is way more restrictive than your led to believe and I'm constantly battling against sudden bugs and issues after a simple browser update.

Poor website service and Terrible customer service.
A contact form on our website wasn't sending through the emails that it was configured to send.We found this out from irate customers which was far from ideal, and it turned out the form hadn't been working for some weeks.
We tested the email address configured into the form. It successfully received emails from multiple external accounts through multiple email providers, so we knew the address was good.
Also, other email addresses with the same domain name worked, so it wasn't a problem with our domain.
We contacted Squarespace through chat (after waiting 25 minutes for an agent to pick up the chat).
We were told "Ok, so I was able to see that the custom address was temporarily placed on a blocklist. We aren't able to see exactly why this occurred, but I was able to request you be removed from it."
The problem was quickly rectified, but when I pointed out that we had had no notification of the block being put in place, that we had lost custom due to this, and asked whether this could happen again, the agent went into technobable mode and basically said it had nothing to do with Squarespace and must be a problem on our side. The agent would not accept that Squarespace had any responsibility, even though all other possible causes had been ruled out.
As we can't rely on the Squarespace service for our business, we will be looking elsewhere.

The Number One Reason Not to Use Squarespace

I have a marketing company. We manage over 100 domains and builders. Customer Service does not get worse than SquareSpace.This one reason alone is why you should seek out another website builder. They have no customer service phone line. They do not respond to chat but rather encourage you to email their "24/7 Support Team." They will then take days to resolve the simplest of tasks. Be warned.

Terrible, terrible experience. Stay away. Their website builder is buggy and will randomly delete content across pages after saving,forcing you to rebuild the entire thing, just for it to happen over and over again. Their customer service is snarky and they do not care at all care about the customer or their experience. In addition, when you get so frustrated you just want out, they make it very very difficult to leave by holding onto your domain, threatening to erase all of your content etc. On par with Spectrum Internet. Go with Wix or Wordpress. Don't be fooled by their shiny, pretty templates.
