Didn't want to use SW, got charged $400 unknowingly, cannot cancel or get refunded

What kind of a service doesn't even say through an email that a free trial that I have started is ending and my card will be charged like all other normal services do?Unless you count on us not paying much attention and getting changed $200 FOR MONTHS until we notice???
Your actions really go against any fair and honest business practices.
You also state in your terms and conditions that us users "may terminate your Subscription to the Platform by canceling your Account through the tools that we make available within the Platform"
Where are those tools??? I've been clicking through your platform searching for such options.
Also tried reaching out to support, waited on your chat for almost an hour (which says your avg. response time is a few minutes)... I really have no words...and let alone an answer to the three emails, and a chat I've tried to reach you through.
This is a service that I didn't want to use, ended up paying $200 for two months each, and now cannot even reach you to get you to stop billing my card.read more
This type of operation shouldn't be legal.

I have no words, as this type of operation surely should not be legal. I signed up to the 'free'trial to have a play around on the platform before potentially recommending it to the business I work for. Had to enter my credit card details to access - not a great start, but whatever.
However, having forgotten to cancel my subscription before the trial ended (my fault), I was billed for $200.
SW obviously didn't give me a heads up on this, e.g. 'Your free subscription is ending, and you'll be charged XXX on the Xth'- which is something most proper businesses do. The only thing I was sent was an invoice to my email, with no extra information or no T&Cs, just that they had charged me.
Still I thought OK, fine, it's my own damn fault, but I'll go on there now and cancel the subscription before I get billed again next month. I go onto the platform and cancel the subscription - there's no prompt to warn me or any other messaging. It just then says 'cancelled'.
OK so I then presumed that given that I had paid for the month, I'd be allowed to use the features for the time that I had already paid for. Seems like the normal and reasonable thing to do, right? Literally every other subscription-based service functions like this: Spotify, Netflix, etc. Even if you cancel your subscription, if you've paid for the month, you get to use the service until the next billing period.
Lo and behold, I try and enter the site, just to be greeted with a message of 'you've cancelled your subscription', and no way of accessing it. I then swiftly checked whether me having cancelled the service meant that they had refunded me - nope. There was also no form of communication from SW to say 'you've cancelled your subscription, here's what happens next' or 'you've cancelled so you won't be able to use the service but you'll receive a refund in the next 5-7 business days.' Nothing.
I go on their site to try and chat - it's been an hour and there has been no response (not their working hours? Then disable the chat box or provide info on it!). All I can find is that in their FAQs they specifically state that they can offer NO refunds on their subscriptions. (????)
Now, I don't know it's just me but this does not seem legal - if you're going to deny your customer both access to the platform which they've paid for AND a refund (which in itself is really bad business), you NEED to communicate this to them clearly and several times, as this is by no means the norm when it comes to subscriptions. You also need to let them know after they've cancelled what the deal is.
I don't want to go full Karen but honestly this is wild. I've lost close to NZD300 to the wind. And to think that I was going to suggest a business subscription to SW for my entire team which would have gotten them $$$. But no, there's no way after this.
SW, if you read these, fix your damn messaging and issue me a refund! Good god.read more
They use misleading advertising

Just to clarify - SimilarWeb uses a solicitation process through misleading advertising to gain yourdetails first --- before disclosing that not only is it a trial but you MUST supply your credit card details and you MUST opt out otherwise they will charge you at the end of the trial.
The resulting interaction from my leaving the review -- did not improve the process and did not restore any trust I had in them.
I run a medium size digital marketing company and was seriously considering their services -- but the whole interaction has left a sour taste and a complete lack of trust.
Any company that uses this tactic refusing to disclose the full information until soliciting your details - is untrustworthy in my professional view.
You get hammered post registering with marketing emails. So if you are seriously thinking of checking out their services - go in with eyes wide open with this company.
They use misleading advertising. I was expecting a free account, which had limited functionality. Which is fine as I wanted to check their services out. However, it is not a free account - it is a 7 day trial where they take your credit card details. When talking to customer service as I was confused why I landed on a page to select a 7 day trial and provide my credit card -- they said it was my interpretation of it --- Free Version -- means Free Verision -- Not 7 day trial -- I did not proceed as they immediately lost my trust.read more
