Dreadful. Avoid.

Reviewed on 2021-04-19T14:14:06

Bought the lowest option as a test. Ran OBS with a static image and a playlist of music which I streamed to YouTube. The CPU was running at around 25%. The virtual machine appeared to be running fine (The YouTube stream was running as expected) but more often than not I couldn't reconnect to the computer to manage it. It just stuck on 'Loading' most of the time I tried. This happened whether I was using the web interface or their app to connect. Tech support moved the machine to another server but this did not resolve this issue. Only reboots worked ... until the next time I wanted to connect. On those instances where I was able to connect to the machine the mouse and keyboard latency along with the refresh rate was terrible. Pretty much unusable. Cancelled after a week. Machine trashed instantly (fine). Account closed instantly too so I couldn't chase a refund for the remaining 3 weeks I had paid for. 1 star awarded as I can't award 0

Very satisfied with its service.

Very satisfied with its service. I use it as a cloud gaming rig, so that I can play games on my MacBook. Firstly, the latency is very low, but that might be because my geographical location is very near one of its centres. Secondly, the customer services are VERY helpful, they give very insightful solutions to your problem and even actively followed up on it. Honestly I would say that it is the most friendly and helpful customer service I have ever encountered. I have recommended this service to my friends who are in a similar situation. However, Paperspace does have plenty of flaws. I would begin by saying that the app is poorly built and is WAY less reliable than its website. If you ever come into any trouble with Paperspace, perhaps the web portal would help you out. Secondly, I would love for Paperspace to include the newest generations of Nvidia and AMD cards, but that's hardly Paperspace's fault given the current situation with the global GPU shortage

Useless

Reviewed on 2021-04-16T15:18:26

Will deactivate your account with no communications, this straight after inputting card, address and name details to be told that then then require a copy of my passport...... Nahh, you don't need that for a cloud service, especially when you read the reviews. It was trash when I last tried it, was gonna see if it had improved. Seems more dodgy then anything now, probably will turn into a scam shortly.

Top product with 6h free GPU

Reviewed on 2021-03-18T15:57:43

Pro-tier of paperspace. User since Feb 2021. Extremely happy with the product and service.I mainly use gradient notebooks, which means I have 6h of free GPU running on the cloud. The options are Quadro M4000 and Nvidia P5000, so pretty powerful. Also, they allow you to use your own custom image as a notebook, which means I can use VScode (through code-server) as my IDE. On top of that, I asked for support a couple of times and the response is always in 24h or less. Kudos to the team for that. I would recomend it to anyone.

Lack of Transparency in Billing

Reviewed on 2021-03-05T19:01:00

I had read some negative reviews on here, along with some not so bad reviews and decided to give it a try. The main issue with this service is that the billing is not transparent at all. When you register a credit or debit card on the system, they immediately, and without warning, deduct $10 dollars from you. At no point does the system warn you this is happening, it is not stated anywhere on the page and there is no receipt afterwards to suggest the money has been taken. This is a serious issue and one which Paperspace does not acknowledge when challenged via email. In fact, at the point where you are asked to enter these card details, it specifically says it needs the card on file, even with $0 charge to take, suggesting money will not be taken. Furthermore, after the initial $10 dollar charge was attempted and reverted back by my card provider, Paperspace later tried to take this payment again, without warning or confirmation, simply using the existing card details. Additional to this, there does not appear to be any transparency on actual usage billing. There is no account balance to be found and no access to view cumulative billing - it seems this is done in a "1st of the month" invoice. This could certainly be improved. On to the virtual machines, I created a P4000 GPU, which when checking the settings, was as stated. However, the network connection from the virtual machine to the internet was disappointing when compared with competitor offers, with a speed test confirming 100mb download and only 7mb upload speeds. No suitable for streaming games. On customer service, responses were swift and any requested actions were taken quite quickly. although the issue of the $10 payments being taken as described above was not addressed as an issue, it was simply justified as below: "Paperspace places a $10 Authorization Hold on your card each time it is added and/or an Hourly VM Subscription is created. This is intended to ensure cards are valid and reasonable funds are available to pay any usage accrued by the account." ========= In conclusion I would avoid using Paperspace in its current setup....
