What happened to the Ocado I used to praise?

Reviewed on 2021-05-24T20:54:41

For a long time I couldn't fault Ocado. I am allergic to Cow's milk and they had a good range ofproducts that I enjoyed and the drivers were always friendly and helpful. Now one by one all the milk free products I used to enjoy are being replaced with M&S meals that are either milk free and unhealthy and tasteless or they are vegan but contaminated with milk so I can no longer buy them. I have placed many product requests but they are either ignored or the product is brought back only to be constantly out of stock. Every delivery now at least two of my ready meals have been crushed and are leaking and having to be thrown away. Some of the drivers now are rude and unhelpful. I am disabled and not able to manage all my own shopping. I feel trapped in this situation as it is very difficult to get a delivery slot with anyone else. I would change to another company now if I could.

A few lines from loyal customers

Reviewed on 2021-05-23T18:48:17

It is so much easier to complain about something rather than praise. No issue with my shopping whatsoever.Ocado was always looking after us. Each inquiry has been solved within days. Customer service is very efficient, delivery drivers are always ever so nice and helpful. I know it was different during lockdown and ocado had a few hiccups but I understand it was a very new situation for all of us. Thanks for all your help for a loyal customers.

I dislike the carrier bag and subsitute's policy

Reviewed on 2021-05-23T09:10:07

I dislike the carrier bag policy, and I dislike the substitute policy. I don't want carrier bags andI don't want substitute and yet I cant opt out of either. I dislike my shopping being carried from the van to the door 6 bags at a time and the food being squashed. This happens time and again. Please stop it. I dislike paying for a smart pass and yet not being able to get a delivery from mid December to the end of January simply because of the band wagon jumpers. Ocado you really do need to listen to your customers. I am also fed up of the Marks and Spencer's range being so much more expensive here than it is in store. I got fed up of waiting for the manager to call me back, if you have no intention of Adrian ringing me then don't promise it.

Ocado is losing its product choice because of M&S

Reviewed on 2021-05-22T17:05:04

Ocado has a great service culture but it is being let down by changes to its product line.I get the distinct sense that M&S is driving what can only be viewed as detrimental changes to the product line. As a vegetarian, I have for years purchased Ocado’s Red Kidney beans. Ocado’s product has been a competitive 55 pence but following the M&S merger Ocado’s version has now been discontinued and you can only buy M&S Red Kidney beans at 70 pence - a 27% price increase! Other products have been dropped - frozen chopped garlic and chopped ginger are no longer available. Frozen mixed berries are no longer available. And I have noted that Ocado extra virgin oil, which is competitively priced has been out of stock for a while. The alternatives are twice the price of Sainsbury’s, as an example. As a loyal customer, I do not want Ocado to succumb to selling less for more. It has the ability to offer the widest range of products at competitive prices. It must not reduce its product range because of some M&S strategy.

The product range has suffered badly from the M&S deal

Reviewed on 2021-05-21T12:00:23

Like another reviewer, I have now cancelled my regular shop. Initially, M&S created new products to replace Waitrose ones that M&S didn't do.These are now being dropped. Ocado's exclusive parmesan has now vanished. The fresh line from Reflets has vanished, so they no longer do a proper raw-milk Camembert. I suspect M&S is pushing Ocado to drop any products that directly compete with them. Waitrose didn't have that problem, but then Waitrose has always stocked competing products. M&S has always been own brand. Generally speaking, the M&S quality does not match Waitrose when it comes to general goods, and my shopping basket has suffered as a consequence. Ocado have now moved to my "use occasionally" list having used them weekly for a long time.

Out of stock a huge issue

Reviewed on 2021-05-21T08:53:00

UPDATE - re the standard corporate reply below, I have sent them a DM and spoken to them, they continue to stand by their carrier bag estimation system that is systematically overcharging all their customers for the plastic bags, this is illegal! They have now agreed to correctly refund the unused portion of my “smart” pass. Out of stock a huge issue. I am so disappointing by the service. I moved to Ocado when they merged with M&S but week after week 8 months after the merger I get ridiculous swaps even for a Friday deliveries which ruin planned weekend meals. Given the systems are supposed to be state of the art, with Ocado trying to sell them around the world and home deliveries are sourced from only 4 UK delivery hubs, it is very surprising I am getting these swaps even when i have put them on the order the evening before delivery! Ocado have dropped key M&S lines that i have ordered on line and collected from Marks stores. I have asked for a refund on the annual pass and been told i get the difference between the annual pass and the individual delivery slots, rather than the difference between the monthly pass cost x no of months and the annual pass (sorry thats just a con).. They also (over)estimate rather than charge for the actual number of bags received which is extremely poor retail practice at best and almost certainly illegal. An example of this, we often book the slot a few weeks in advance and put enough items in the basket to get over the min delivery charge. On one occasion i put 3 x boxes of beer in the basket, checked out and forgot to do the full shop at a latter date. We were charged for 12 (twelve ) carrier bags no bags were delivered) we sent the beer back, which was all that was on the shop but the bags were not refunded until i queried why they had not been refunded automatically.

Horrible driver - rude, noisy, inconsiderate

Reviewed on 2021-05-20T22:57:30

Delivery arrived after 11pm (booked slot 9-10), no notification about any delays. No woman living on her own wants to have to open her door to a male stranger at almost midnight.Driver Noel was incredibly rude. No apology whatsoever. Super noisy, woke up the whole house with no concern about the late hour. Refused to help carry the bags upstairs (1st floor) despite me clearly having difficulties to walk due to a leg injury. Told me to do it myself because he was running behind. Not my problem. Tore my calf muscle again as I was carrying the bags up the stairs, I'm in so much pain right now, I feel sick. 4 months of recovery for nothing because of an incompetent rude delivery driver who wasn't decent enough to help out an injured woman. What am I supposed to do with that now? Ocado service is up and down but this really takes the cake. Stop hiring drivers that clearly hate their job. After complaining to Ocado I was offer a £10 voucher for my inconvenience.
