"Not so" Cheap Energy Club

Cheap Energy Club to be fair should remove the word "cheap" from the title. Received email saying mydeal with my supplier was expiring where I paid £80 per month and searched the cheap energy club but their quotes were actually more expensive than those on the other comparison websites. Granted there are "no deals" in 2021 as the industries greedy price hike means it's impossible for anyone to get the same deal as last year but what's the point if the cheap energy club is quoting more expensive prices than it's comparison website rivals?

Can’t practice what they preach

Absolutely useless, I’m trying to repair my credit score and I put my trust in mse credit club to help me do this,I liked the fact that I would get a free monthly experian credit report and credit score, I get the credit report but the score never updates, I always have to email them for them to update my score and due to their response times my credit report and credit score updates are now almost two weeks apart, it’s important for me to see my score at the same day the report is generated, for me to know what’s working and what’s not and how I’m progressing it is vital to me that my credit score is generated at the same time as the report, otherwise what’s the point, so I’ve emailed them asking if they can update my score as my report has just updated, they refused me, they said it’s not due, I said it’s only not due because of your failure to keep things in sync as it should be, these jokers are quick enough to moan about other companies, but before Martin Lewis goes on tv slating other companies, he really should get his own house in order, looks like there’s a lot of people on this site complaining about the miriad of incompetencies and inefficiency caused by money saving expert, maybe someone should make a tv show about money saving expert, there seems to be more than enough issues and complaints for a weekly show at 8.30 every Thursday to slate Martin Lewis and his incompetent, inefficient site and rude unhelpful staff, stay tuned

No Cashback After Around 8 Months

10.5.21. After the exchanges and report below I emailed my supplier, Shell and asked them to explain your claims.Here is a quote from their reply: "I have looked into terms and conditions of the tariff, and unfortunately there is no mention of £25 cashback. If this was promised by Money Saving Expert site, that is something they will need to resolve."
6.5.21. You have not resent the email. You have written a new email with today's date. I do not like being taken for a fool and I doubt Mr. Lewis would approve of the service and response I have received so far. In the email you have simply restated information already given. You have given me no confirmation that I will get the promised cashback and certainly no date. You blame my supplier, Shell. This may or may not be the case but each response you have given is an ineffective fudge and I hope Mr. Lewis reads this thread. Shame.
Further Update 5.5.21. Holly, I received no email from you on Friday. I have a folder with all MSE's emails in and I have also checked my Junk folder and Deleted Email folder. There is nothing there. This is really beginning to grate and I would like you to resend this email you claim was sent. I will update here if I receive it from you.
Update: 5.5.21. Now six days since your response and nine days since my latest complaint and no one has been in touch. What do you mean by shortly?
In mid-September 2020 I used MSE to switch my Shell gas and electricity to a tariff lasting until Jan 2022 with the offer of £25 cashback. Nearly eight months after switching I have still not received the cashback. I have written several emails to MSE and escalated a complaint to them over a few months ago on the matter. I received an email assuring me they were chasing my supplier and that "this is taking longer than expected because we've not yet received the required update directly from your supplier." I emailed them again 3 days ago to ask again where my cashback was and have so far just had an acknowledgement email.
I am loathe to complain about MSE as Mr. Lewis is so good with advice, regular emails and so on. But I have given two stars where I'd like to give 5 because I am clearly experiencing poor service; not receiving my £25 cashback and not being kept informed on what is happening.

If you're trying to switch energy suppliers and have no mobile phone, forget this site.After taking all your bank details, DOB etc. they ask for your mobile number, and won't accept a landline number. Complete waste of time.

MSE has never claimed to be the "dog's dinner"

MSE has never claimed to be the "dog's dinner" and is not meant to be either. Way too many blinkered 1-star reviews here complaining much ado about nothing.Take their Cheap Energy Club for example. So what a single Outfox the Market tariff is not listed. That's not deserving a 1-star review for the MSE website especially when in reality that Spring 21 tariff mentioned by those with a vested interest is a 'variable' tariff and actually more expensive than the 'fixed rate' Avro Energy and other 'variable' tariffs that ARE listed.
We may not find 'savings' with the Cheap Energy Club like we did years past but we still do get the best advice on tariffs presented to us in a manner that is clear and transparent and both available directly and not available directly.
I just crosschecked 18 comparison websites and 10 energy websites. None listed any tariffs cheaper than the Cheap Energy Club and many did not include the cheaper tariffs listed by the Cheap Energy Club in their listings - some were far less transparent needing us to calculate ourselves the annual estimated cost. Many calculated annual savings based current tariff AND standard tariff whereas in reality no one in their right mind would ever deliberately select a standard tariff once their current tariff expired. The 'standard tariff' and the 'cap' is somewhat a red-herring for those not on a standard tariff and to present 'savings' compared to them is cloud cuckoo land.
I find MSE a great website when it comes car insurance and home insurance following their advice of which comparison websites and in what order as well those missed by comparison websites. In other areas MSE is less a success but in real terms it is down to us to do our homework - MSE makes that somewhat easier.
I do agree that the 'Facebook login' is NOT a desired method for us to comment, in fact it should be 'outlawed' giving this drives Facebook's revenue streams.
All in all MSE MoneySavingExpert is a worthwhile website that often gives us grounded useful transparent information and advice especially if we don't view it through rose coloured spectacles.

Don't honour cash back offer or better deals recomms

Not only did the energy club fail to give me cash back - a year after the switch, and to date I've had nothing,they also unintentionally blocked me from choosing another energy deal becaue of a glitch in their system. They failed on both counts so am sorry to say, they are not fit for purpose. Please avoid. They don't honour their cashback offers or help you make an energy switch.

Did an eligibility check which said it would not affect your credit score and BAM it affected my credit score even though I wasn't applying for anything.When I contacted them I was told that a soft search would have been done because they are a broker not a lender.

More like an advertising site to make you spend your money on tosh that's supposedly a bargain.And what's the idea of only allowing comments in the forum only with a Facebook account.
