I ordered Zoe after seeing a feature on Boston news

Reviewed on 2021-04-29T13:26:52

I ordered Zoe after seeing a feature on local boston news channel. I have suffered with digestive issues for years with not much help from my psp,so I initially was expecting a miracle. I was waitlisted for everything but after about two weeks was given the green light. It came promptly and I thought the testing was easy to do and follow (those muffins though). My results took as long as I expected and were very thorough. I started using the app and recording meals, and it seems to be a reoccurring theme that the database isn't as current with foods as we would all like. The other thing is, many of the recommended foods and recipes are not very common or easy. On a weeknight, after carting my 4 kids around to various activities, I am not going to make curry eggplant with lentils. I know there is meal prep but maybe we can create more accessible, easy meals. I also mentioned being gluten free and whole wheat everything was recommended. Overall, with the results and food recommendations, I am pleased. If anything, I have validation that my issues are real and a way to combat them. I have not scored higher than 77 on a meal, which bums me out but maybe if I had more time and will power, I'd eat a bare salad.

Won't help you if your results indicate health problems

Reviewed on 2021-04-11T17:12:36

I ordered Zoe in December. Got my kit in January; did the tests; sent them back. Then, after six or seven weeks, they told me they couldn't process my blood sample and that I had to re-do it. OK. Then they said they'd open the app back up so I could. That didn't happen so they said I could email the times I ate and tested my blood, so I did. Then, weeks later, they said they needed me to give them a full, fasting cholesterol panel. What? I sent them the results of my most recent physical (non-fasting) and said that I would not go get further testing as this was not what I signed up for. I got an email saying that, oh, actually they don't need the results to be non-fasting, and I'll have to wait six more weeks for my results from them. Again, what? I pointed out that they must have my results, which was why they asked for my cholesterol panel; something about my results must have seemed off to them, which is why they wanted further info. I said I wanted my information, as I had been paying a monthly fee since December. This led to a high level of defensiveness and passive-aggression, and anger on mine, in an unpleasant email exchange, the end result of which was that I got a full refund. However, there is no refund for the time I wasted waiting, when I could have paid for a more helpful service, and there is no refund for the work I put in logging my food, taking repeated tests, etc. They still have my results and will use my info in their studies, and I don't have my time back, or info on what was troubling about my health. So, now I have to undergo further testing with companies that will actually inform me if I have health problems, since Zoe was not honest or decent enough to do that.

Have been waiting months for my…

Have been waiting months for my results/ I have daily chats asking what the problem is,have been told repeatedly that they are “looking into it” and will get back to me...still nothing! All the while I have paid for this program, and have nothing to show for it. Beginning to think this is a scam. Definitely would NOT recommend- complete waste of money and time unfortunately!

I am cynical by nature but I’m impressed with Zoe!

Reviewed on 2021-03-19T13:05:14

I have been so impressed with the whole process most particularly with the food, materials, instructions, chat for ? & info, and the App which has been fine tuned to the degree that it is predictive of almost any circumstance you may find yourself in. I had an accident with the blood ? card after I had executed the process perfectly. No problem ?. I chatted my problem. They shipped new materials and those great meals so I could submit an accurate card for testing.

Great insight program to get to know your digestive system!

Reviewed on 2021-03-12T22:12:30

I believe this is the most comprehensive program out there so far, hence why i chose it.My goal was to find out what foods work best for my body without having to do the elimination diet (which is not that accurate anyhow). ZOE is a great tool to discover the foods your body thrives on, the kind of bacteria your gut houses (good and bad), and get educated about gut health. I knocked down 1star because the ZOE insight food database could be better. I found that i was scanning a lot of barcodes and would get multiple results (all same brand&flavor but different scores). Also, i would sometimes scan a product, get a green range score, and next time i’d scan the SAME product it i’d get a yellow range score. A bit frustrating, but not common. Overall, i would definitely recommend this to anyone who could afford it. A bit pricey in my opinion, but then again... your annual checkup does NOT include a stool sample analysis, which in my mind is essential, but ZOE covers it.

misleading advertising, poor client education

Reviewed on 2021-03-06T19:18:24

I bought this program as a gift for my partner. She did the testing about two months ago and still has not received her results and prepared meals. So I've paid for two month's subscription to the app which just tells us information we could google. The "app" at this point is just a bunch of articles. She took the optional blood sugar test and the results didn't turn out, so she had to do it again. I complained to customer service that I signed up for the program with the understanding that I would start paying when we received the results of the tests, not when the tests arrived. They apologized but offered no refund. ZOE needs to be a lot more explicit up front about what you are paying for. When I was researching on the website, it was very difficult to find clear information about payment, so I had to use the livechat to ask questions. They were very prompt, but I got the wrong impression, apparently, about how the subscription worked. I thought a monthly subscription of $59 would get me more than a useless app. Maybe it will be useful when she gets her results and the meals, but for now, it feels like I've been tricked. The instructions for all the initial testing didn't give a reason for each test, and the instruction for how to interpret results was poorly lacking. Reading the blood sugar monitor was very difficult, as the numbers were small, and it was hard to tell what time of day the peaks and valleys were happening, and the app didn't provide much information about what the numbers even meant. I'm still holding out hope that this science-based, individualized diet will be helpful, but at the moment, it feels like another weight-loss scam.

Helpful with a lot of support— you have to do your part

Reviewed on 2021-03-05T18:20:42

I came across this program from an ad on social media. I was intrigued by the science of the Zoe biological Predict study. After reading through the website and social media of the doctors involved, I decided I would do it. The initial part of the test with blood and stool samples as well as blood sugar monitoring we’re easy enough to follow and complete. There were extensive directions every step of the way, including an app to prompt you for what you needed to do that day. After the testing and receiving my results about a month later, I was excited to learn how to put together foods that would reduce inflammation and be better for my gut health. That info is clearly stated in your results. I think this program gives a lot of information but, I found I didn’t quite understand how to make it work for me. I needed more help in understanding the food logging system. I realized after food logging for a 2 weeks, I was not doing it correctly. This is something that is easily corrected but, would be better explained with examples in the beginning. Because there is not a prescribed diet, you’re left to discover the foods that are best for you according to your biology--which is great. That can be easy and difficult at the same time. I really like that the site uses plain language to help you understand what foods work best for you, the graphics on the website are easy to understand as well. On every page of the app and the testing app, there is a chat box that comes up so you always have support from a help center. The biggest challenge with this program is you really have to devote a lot of time and energy to it and shift your mindset from calorie counting. With this experience you look at foods for how your body will respond to them and build from there. No foods are off limits but you are encouraged to try new foods and do a lot of meal prep. I like that there are a lot of blog posts to keep you motivated and help you understand the program. Unfortunately I could not find a community of other people who have gone through the experience to discuss the program. I think that would be a nice addition. Overall very interesting and helpful to understand your body.
