BUYER BEWARE

Reviewed on 2021-04-06T23:30:04

BUYER BEWARE. STEAR CLEAR OF THIS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE COMPANY if you value your time, your money, and dignity.I am livid. Please save your money and go elsewhere so you don't feel like I do right now. I absolutely HATE carmax. Longest story short I placed a car on hold about a week ago - got an email confirmation and text confirming this and was just waiting for home delivery for my 24 hour test drive. No motion on it at all. Yesterday, I called and asked if I could test drive a 2nd car. After a few hours I called the 2nd location and then canceled the test drive because I wanted the initial car on hold instead. Well guess what? They took the hold off the car WITHOUT TELLING ME, EMAILING ME OR TEXTING ME and sold it to someone else! WOW. SAVE YOUR MONEY. After shopping here all my life I will never ever think about coming here again. I spent 3 hours speaking to 'customer relations' to hear 'we're so sorry' let's take notes so this won't happen to anyone else. ANYONE ELSE? What about me?! It took me 1 month+ to find this car. I will be sure to share this complaint to anyone that cares to listen. I have 30K followers on Instagram and 5K friends on Facebook that would love to hear about this. This was by far the crappiest service ever. Go to Carvana, Tesla, ANYWHERE BUT CARMAX. Trust me. This company will for sure go bankrupt soon with this kind of service. My current car is my 3rd and last car with Carmax. I am extremely loyal and they did not make this right. I will never give Carmax another dime of my money or a second of my time. As far as I'm concerned, buying a car from Carmax is like buying a car from BigLots. PEACE OUT TRASHMAX.

I have purchased from my local CarMax…

Reviewed on 2021-03-30T14:56:49

I have purchased from my local CarMax in the past, and had good luck, so when I was looking to purchase another one,I went here first. I found 2 cars that were very much like what I was looking for, and I paid to have them transferred to my local store. The 1st one that arrived showed clear VIN/Carfax with no issues. Just as I was about to buy it, I ran the VIN through my insurance company and a red flag popped up, showing a reported theft or total loss. When I gave this information to CarMax, they acted like they could have cared less and said basically to "take it or leave it". When the 2nd car came in, I went to look at it. Let's just say the photos on line are either stock photos, or someone photo-shops them. There were many very large scratches, scuffs, and gashes all over the car, none of which were at all visible on any of the photos. The interior was disgusting, and all beat up and worn. When I brought this to their attention, they also could have cared less. Needless to say, I will stop referring people there and will continue to take my business elsewhere.

Reviewed on 2021-03-08T20:31:33

I would not recommend this place to anyone EVER. I bought my car in Dec of 2019, when I went to register it in Jan.Of 2021 there was a hold on my title from a different state. Carmax was notified of this hold in April of 2019 by the state. It took 3 months for them to figure it out. They would not help and didn’t seem to care. The dealership and financial office were useless and just kept pushing me from person to person with no real answer or explanation.

If I could give a negative rating i would. They got me approved after running my credit 2x.So they had me pay the transfer fee, get a cashier's check and get insurance. A week later the car is here but for some reason my approvals are missing but according to them it would be ok it just needed to be run again. The next morning i get a call. My income can't be used because i haven't been at my job 6 months( a fact which i told to each person who ran my credit). So now they refund the transfer fee but want to run my credit again because it needs to be "reported correctly." So of course it DOESN'T GET APPROVED, im out 1000, and my credit was run into the ground in the process.

My Carmax experience is nowhere near as…

Reviewed on 2021-03-06T00:39:12

My Carmax experience is nowhere near as bad a most of what I am reading here, but what I received was not how the Carmax sales transaction was described to me.I bought a 2019 4runner through them, the vehicle is great, everything I wanted. The transaction experience described to me by 3 different Carmax sales employees on the phone, utilizing the online app, sounded amazing. I'd get home delivery, car brought out on a flatbed to my door, my trade in would be picked up by the same flatbed, never have to leave the house during the pandemic. Car shows up, with the sales guy driving it from the Escondido store to my house. Okay, not that big a deal, but not the way they described the care and delivery of the vehicle to me. The store pushed to have sales complete online, prior to home delivery test drive, then the salesman did the same at my house, before test drive/vehicle inspection. Lets be realistic, not going to buy a vehicle before I check it out, inside, out, on the road. Test drive done, inspect it, I really like it, lets do this. Then the salesman finds something that I've never noticed. The title on my trade in has the middle initial wrong, they say they cant complete the trade in and pick up that day, wont happen until the title gets fixed with the correct initial. I understand, I'll do that, the salesman assures me that it wont be a problem to complete when its, done, they would have towed the vehicle rather than driving it, and they can still do so once the paperwork is correct. It took DMV a month and a half to get me the corrected title, I called the escondido carmax to finish the tradein transaction, one of their people transfered me to one of the Carmax national call center assistants, who then transferred me back to Escondido, after getting someone from sales there on the phone, and giving them the same info that I gave to them before they transferred me out. She first informs me that they let her know that I need to bring the vehicle in to the Escondido location, and get it evaluated again, that it cant be picked up as they had assured me during my original home delivery purchase. After hearing my concerns and dissatisfaction, she apologized and connected me with one of the Escondido location's Sales Managers. He then told me much of what she had said, letting me know that they could no longer pick up the vehicle as had been assured to me, that it was now a completely separate transaction, and would have to be evaluated again. Okay, I understand how that could be the case, but if so, dont assure me that it will all be done from my home, after the title issue came up, just to assure the sale of your vehicle. The salesman could have said, no, unfortunately, you'll have to bring it to the store, but he didnt. Voicing my concerns about the trade in, of course I'm wondering if I will get the same offer, or will that be different as well, since they've already made the vehicle sale? The sales manager avoided the question the first time I asked, then the 2nd time, told me that he wanted to give me "realistic expectations", as it has been a month and a half since I purchased the vehicle from them, and my trade in offer was given in december. I cant help that DMV is not operating very quickly, what is described as "within 2 weeks" on the DMV website took a month and a half. So, what my realistic expectations are, 1: Give the delivery and sales experience that you are describing on the phone. 2: Dont make promises to assure a sale, that you are unwilling to follow through with once the sale is final. 3: If you give a trade in offer, and are willing to maintain that same offer up until the sale is made on the vehicle you are providing, you should have no problem keeping that offer intact until the error in paperwork is corrected on the trade in (within reasonable covid expectations) What was promised to me has not been followed through on, the reality of my complete home delivery and pickup sale is that I have to spend approximately 3 hours in public proximity to complete my Carmax Experience.
